L’Oreal Paris True Match Lumi Powder Glow Illuminator
Continuing on from the Lumi range and the worldwide highlighting trend, L’Oreal have released new powder illuminators/highlighters into the US/UK markets. Yet to be released onto New Zealand shelves, these illuminators come in 3 unique shades and undertones so there will definitely be shade to match you!
Packaging wise this product is a 10/10! This compact is sturdy enough to leave in your handbag and also has ‘on trend’ rose gold detailing. The actual compact itself separates into two halves. The top half contains the product, which you lift up to reveal a handy little highlighting brush! The hidden little brush makes highlighting on the go a breeze and could also double as a contouring brush. Each compact contains 4 shades which you can use individually or mix together. All these shades have been specifically created to work together to achieve that perfect highlight.
- Golden W102 is as the name suggests, a gorgeous golden glow. The shades included in this compact are a soft mocha, a light gold, an apricot gold and a light beige gold. This illuminator is suited for people with warm undertones or could be used with a light hand on neutral undertones.
- Rose N202 has soft rosey gold tones. Shades included are a soft creamy white, a blush pink, light peach and a light gold. This illuminator is suited for people with neutral undertones but could also be used lightly on cool undertones.
- Ice C302 is a silver illuminator. Containing 4 shades of light beige, white, soft lavender and a soft baby blue. This illuminator is specifically suited for people with cool undertones and the fairest of skin. Perfect for fair skinned highlight lovers who struggle for an intense glow.
These illuminators are extremely pigmented and long wearing – perfect for people who want an intense highlight! They do contain small flecks of glitter which can travel on your skin. These illuminators can definitely be built up so if a strong highlight isn’t for you, just use a light hand when applying. Overall I think L’Oreal has done an amazing job with these and I will definitely be getting a lot of use from this product!
Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft-Matte Hydrating Foundation
Fresh off the US shelves, this foundation promises a matte finish with lasting hydration! The first matte foundation of its kind! The secret is the gel–whipped formula, giving this foundation a smooth texture with hydrating properties.
The first thing I noticed when applying this foundation was that it does in fact apply like a dream! It is very similar to the L’Oreal Matte Infallible foundation except it blurs pores and you don’t have to use as much product – A little goes a very long way! The foundation doesn’t have a strong scent and can be applied using fingers, a sponge or a buffing/paddle brush. Maybelline have also done an amazing job on the shade range for this product as it is very diverse! From very fair to darker shades with choices on pink or yellow undertones, there is definitely a shade to suit everyone!
I would recommend this foundation to someone with dry, normal or combination skin types. It lasts around 6+ hours on my oily/combinational skin when set with a powder. It also does not stick to dry patches. This foundation is medium-full coverage and can be layered easily. The product also feels weightless on my skin, not too heavy or cakey as some people struggle with other foundations. This foundation would be great for someone looking for easy, everyday wear or Mums on the go! I will definitely be getting a lot of wear out of this!
